Do I have to comply, and when?
Receivers must comply from 1 October 2026, and January 2027 in Scotland. Carriers, brokers and dealers follow later, currently expected October 2027, though that date is DEFRA's plan rather than a confirmed one and has moved before. Receivers will be asking carriers for clean digital data from October 2026 either way. See Am I affected by Digital Waste Tracking.
Is it really 1,000 pounds if I do not?
Yes. The fixed penalty is 1,000 pounds, not the 500 or 5,000 quoted on some sites, with larger variable penalties possible above that. The bigger commercial risk is loads being refused at the gate. See Penalties and enforcement.
Do I need to know EWC codes?
No. The AI suggests them from a photo of the load, and you check and approve.
Do my drivers need to download an app?
Not from an app store. LoadSnap installs to the phone's home screen from a link, with its own icon and no app store account, and there are native iOS and Android builds as well. The driver photographs the load in it. A one-off load with no job behind it can also be logged from a link, or emailed in to your own LoadSnap inbox.
Is DEFRA submission included?
Yes, on every plan including free. Compliance is never gated behind a paid tier.
Is my data safe?
Your records are stored securely and filed to DEFRA over its secure API. See our privacy policy for the detail on how your data is handled.
What if I stop paying, do I lose my records?
Not without warning, and not without a copy. While your plan is running nothing is ever deleted. If your plan ends you get 90 days to download everything, and one download gives you every record and every note in one file. See What happens to your records if you stop paying.
