Common questions before you start

The questions people ask most before starting with LoadSnap: deadlines, penalties, EWC codes, driver apps, what is included, data safety, trials, and DEFRA testing.

The questions people ask most before starting with LoadSnap, answered quickly. For more on any of them, follow the links.

Do I have to comply, and when?

Receivers must comply from October 2026 (January 2027 in Scotland). Carriers, brokers and dealers follow in October 2027, though receivers will ask carriers for clean digital data from 2026. See Am I affected by Digital Waste Tracking.

Is it really 1,000 pounds if I do not?

Yes. The fixed penalty is 1,000 pounds, not the 500 or 5,000 quoted on some sites, with larger variable penalties possible above that. The bigger commercial risk is loads being refused at the gate. See Penalties and enforcement.

Do I need to know EWC codes?

No. The AI suggests them from a photo of the load, and you check and approve.

Do my drivers need an app?

No. LoadSnap runs in the browser, and drivers can simply send a photo to your LoadSnap WhatsApp number.

Is DEFRA submission included?

Yes, on every plan including free. Compliance is never gated behind a paid tier.

Is my data safe?

Your records are stored securely and filed to DEFRA over its secure API. See our privacy policy for the detail on how your data is handled.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. Start free with no card, and paid plans come with a free trial.

Has LoadSnap passed DEFRA's testing?

Yes. LoadSnap has passed DEFRA's provider testing, which is what lets you comply through integrated software.
