Digital Waste Tracking for brokers and dealers

Brokers and dealers are Phase 2 (planned October 2027). Your duty to record the movements you arrange with authorisation numbers, the early pressure from receivers, and what to do now.

Brokers and dealers arrange waste movements rather than carrying or receiving them. Here is what Digital Waste Tracking (DWT) means for you.

Your deadline

Mandatory from October 2027, alongside carriers, which is planned and has moved before. As with carriers, the sites you arrange deliveries into must record from October 2026, so expect to be asked for clean digital data a year before your own date.

Your duty

You record the movements you arrange, with your registration and authorisation numbers attached to each record.

What to do now

  • Keep your registration and authorisation details current

  • Get clean waste description and EWC code practices in place

  • Make sure the carriers and sites you work with can handle digital data
