How your driver reports a breakdown

What a driver taps when a wagon goes down, and where the report lands back in the office.

When a wagon goes down, the driver reports it from their phone rather than ringing the office and hoping somebody writes it on a pad. The report carries the vehicle, the time, the location and a photo, and it lands in the office straight away.

The same screen handles accidents, fuel, expenses and odometer readings, so drivers only have one place to remember.

How to do it

  1. Your driver opens LoadSnap on their phone and taps Activity on the bottom bar. If Activity is not on their bar, they tap More and then Activity.

  2. Under "What would you like to report?", they tap Breakdown.

  3. If you have set up breakdown cover, your recovery firm's name, the policy or account number and a Call button are sitting at the top of this screen. They can ring recovery from there before they fill anything in.

  4. They pick the severity: Minor, Major or Immobilised.

  5. They write what happened in the "What happened?" box. It is marked required, and it is the part the office actually reads.

  6. They tap Take Photo and photograph the problem. Worth doing, and worth doing more than once.

  7. They tap Submit Report.

The vehicle comes from their check-in and the location is taken when they send it, so that is everything they have to type in.

Where it goes

  1. In the office, click Activity in the sidebar. Some setups call it Driver activity.

  2. Open the report to see the photo, the location, the severity and who sent it.

  3. If something does not add up, Query Driver on the report sends the driver a message about that report rather than starting a fresh conversation.

Worth knowing

  • Set your recovery firm up first, otherwise the driver gets the form without the Call button, which is the useful half when they are stood on a hard shoulder.

  • A breakdown report needs a signal to send, unlike a collection. If it does not go through, the form stays exactly as they left it so they can send it again once they have a bar.

  • Drivers can see what they have sent by tapping Report history on the same screen.

  • Accidents work the same way but ask for third party and injury details as well, including whether the emergency services were called.
