How the Jobs feature works in LoadSnap

Jobs is where carriers capture booked work. What a job is, why booked jobs matter even with ad hoc capture, how jobs are created, scheduled and assigned to vehicles rather than drivers, and the List, Schedule, Calendar and Map views.

Jobs is where carriers create and manage the work their drivers go out and do. Used by carriers.

What it is

A job is a single piece of booked work, for example collecting a skip from a site, or delivering a container and collecting it later. Each job holds the customer, the address, the waste, the container and the dates.

Why it's there

Drivers can submit ad hoc collections from their phone at any time, so why book jobs at all? Because many carriers take work in advance. Customers ring up and book, and the office needs to plan it. Jobs lets you capture that booked work properly, so nothing is forgotten and the day can be planned, rather than relying on drivers to remember everything on the road.

How it works

You create a job with its customer, address, waste and container type. A new job starts unscheduled, where it waits ready to be planned, or you can give it a date and time there and then. Once it has a date it appears in the Scheduler. Work is assigned to vehicles rather than to drivers, because in the waste industry the vehicle is the limit: a ro-ro, a skip wagon and a loose tipper each carry different things. You assign drivers to vehicles, and the vehicle picks up the jobs. Many businesses keep the same driver on the same vehicle day to day.

Different views of the same work

The same jobs can be seen through several views: a List for a quick scan, a Schedule by person and time, a Calendar for the week ahead, and a Map for routing. Switching view never changes the work, only how you see it.
