Every driver has to walk round the wagon before they set off, and you have to be able to prove they did. Doing it in LoadSnap gives you a dated record with photos on it, rather than a pad in the cab that nobody can find when it is asked for.
How to do it
Your driver opens LoadSnap. On the home screen there is a "Vehicle check due" banner telling them how many items it has and roughly how long it takes. They tap Start.
If they are on more than one wagon, LoadSnap asks which one first. They pick it and tap Next.
They get one card per item on the checklist. Swipe right, or tap OK, for anything that is fine.
Swipe left, or tap Defect, for anything that is not. They describe the issue and photograph it.
Once every item has an answer they get a summary: how many were OK, and what the defects were. If your organisation asks for an odometer reading it goes in here, and there is a box for any general notes.
They tap Complete Check.
What you see in the office
In the sidebar, under People and Places, click Vehicles and open the wagon.
The Walkaround checks tab lists every check with the date, who did it, and whether it passed.
Anything raised as a defect is on the check with its photo, so your fitter knows what they are looking at before they walk out to it.
Worth knowing
The check belongs to the vehicle, not to the driver. One check covers that wagon for twenty four hours, so a colleague who took it out earlier this morning may already have done it, and a driver who swaps wagons mid week does not leave the record on the wrong one.
A driver with no vehicle assigned cannot check in at all, so make sure Assignment is up to date before the morning shift.
A check done in a yard with no signal is saved on the phone and sends itself when signal comes back. However many times the phone tries, it is recorded once.
The check does not lock the day. If a driver submits a collection without having done it, LoadSnap tells them and lets them carry on, and the gap still shows in the office.
