When the carrier bringing a load in is also on LoadSnap, their driver has a Connect code. Type it in at your gate and the producer, the carrier, the vehicle and the waste all come across already filled in and already checked.
It saves the worst five minutes at a weighbridge: a driver reading a paper note out while somebody types it, and both of them getting a code wrong.
How to do it
Click Receipts, then Log a receipt.
Choose Enter a LoadSnap Connect code.
Type the code the driver gives you. Every code starts LS-, and that part is already in the box, so you only type the ten characters after it. They go in as five, a hyphen, then five more, and the box puts the hyphen in for you.
Click Look up.
Check what comes back: the carrier and their CBDU registration, the vehicle registration, the producer, the collection date, and every waste item with its EWC code, description and weight. Anything hazardous is flagged.
Click Use this load. Everything lands in the receipt form, where you can still change any of it.
Put in your own weighbridge figures, then confirm the receipt.
If you are the carrier
Every collection your driver submits gets its own Connect code, shown on the record and on the handover screen straight after the load is logged.
The driver reads it out at the gate or holds up the QR code on the same screen, or the office sends it over before the wagon gets there.
Worth knowing
If the code is not found, check for a mistyped character first and click Try another code. Failing that, click Fill out manually instead and carry on. Nobody should be waiting at a gate over this.
If LoadSnap says the code has already been pulled into a receipt, check before using it again. That is usually the same load being logged twice.
On the weighbridge app, use Scan the driver's code instead of typing. One scanner reads both a Waste Tracking QR and a LoadSnap LS- code and works out which it is looking at. There is a "Can't scan?" line underneath for typing a code by hand.
Because both sides are working from the same record, there is one set of figures rather than two that do not match, and the receipt is the single filing that goes to DEFRA. A collection is never filed on its own.
The weight still comes from your weighbridge. Whatever the carrier put on their record is a starting point, not the figure of record.
Confirming the receipt records the load. Sending it to DEFRA is a separate press on the receipt, so a Connect code speeds the gate up without filing anything before you have looked at it. The exception is a setting called File to DEFRA automatically on approval, under Settings, then DEFRA. With that on, the load files as soon as the receipt is confirmed.
