A skip firm with its own transfer station. A grab operator with a soil treatment site. It is one of the commonest shapes in UK waste, and it is the one LoadSnap changes most, because you are on both sides of the same load. The wagon leaves your yard as a collection and comes back as a receipt.
On paper that is two records for one load, kept by the same firm, and any argument about tonnage is an argument with yourself.
Setting it up
In Settings, tick both Waste Carrier and Waste Receiver. Older accounts show this as "mixed", which is the same thing. You then get the whole product: enquiries, quotes, jobs, the scheduler, drivers and invoicing, plus the weighbridge, stock and DEFRA filing.
You file to DEFRA today
This is the part people get wrong about themselves. You file not because you collect, but because you receive. Digital Waste Tracking takes submissions from permitted receiving sites in phase one, mandatory from October 2026 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and January 2027 in Scotland. So the receipt is what gets filed, under your own organisation's DEFRA code, within two working days of the load arriving.
Carriers who have nowhere of their own to tip cannot file yet, because DEFRA has not opened the carrier side. You can, and you have to.
One load, one filing
Where you collect a load and receive the same load, LoadSnap recognises the two halves as one movement and files it once. Two submissions for one movement would be the same tonnage counted twice in the national figures, and it cannot happen here.
Your yards
Every yard you run appears on one screen, with what is standing on each by waste code and by tonnage, and the containers and vehicles based there. Behind it sits a stock ledger tracking your permit as two separate limits: tonnes accepted against the annual allowance across the permit year, and tonnes standing on site against the holding limit. Clearing the yard gives back holding room. It does not give back allowance.
Your people
Everybody who works for you is on the Team page, and a firm that does both sides usually has people who do both. Somebody who drives your grab and covers the weighbridge on a Saturday is one record with two switches turned on, not two records. They sign in once at the same address the office uses and pick where they are going.
Worth knowing
Mark your own receiving sites as your own when you add them. A DEFRA code only goes against sites you operate, and the marker is what tells a collection apart from a load you took in.
Work you send to somebody else's site still behaves as an ordinary collection, with the transfer note and nothing filed by you.
The person on your weighbridge does not need a desk login. Switch on "Works the weighbridge" when you add them and they get a tablet form for the gate and nothing else. If you want to look at the gate yourself, Operative Mode in the top bar opens it without signing out.
