How to add your own fields to LoadSnap

Adding your own fields, like skip size or an internal reference, so your team records the things LoadSnap does not ask for as standard.

Every yard keeps track of something LoadSnap does not ask for as standard. Your skip sizes, your own job reference, a price per tonne. Additional fields let you add those, so your team picks from your list rather than typing something slightly different every time.

A field you add shows up on the form your team fills in, on the record itself, and in the CSV export. It is never sent to DEFRA.

How to do it

This is the form you fill in, with the Label box, the Type dropdown and the tick that puts the field on the transfer note.

The Additional fields screen in LoadSnap with the Add a field form open, showing the Label box, the Type dropdown set to Text, and the Print it on the transfer note tick box.
  1. Click Settings, then Additional Fields.

  2. Click Add field. A panel headed Add a field opens underneath.

  3. Give it a label. This is what your team sees, so use your own words: Skip size, Internal ref, Price per tonne.

  4. Choose the type: Text, Number, Dropdown, Tick box or Date.

  5. For a dropdown, type the choices separated by commas. There are shortcuts underneath for the usual ones, so Use skip sizes, Use material types and Use physical forms fill the box for you and you can edit what they put in.

  6. Tick Print it on the transfer note if the customer should see it on their copy.

  7. Click Add field again, at the bottom of the panel, to save it. Your team sees the field from then on.

Worth knowing

  • A field belongs to your business, not to one form, so it appears on everything your organisation records loads on, whether that is collections, receipts or both.

  • Fields you tick to print appear in an Additional information block underneath sections A to D of the transfer note. Those four sections are the Environment Agency's form and your own fields stay out of them.

  • Nothing here reaches DEFRA. EWC codes are the legal description of the waste and they are separate.

  • Removing a field does not wipe what has already been recorded against it. Those records keep what they were given.

  • Keep the lists short. A dropdown with forty options is slower than typing, and your drivers will pick the first one.

  • If you want to reorder fields, add help text, or show a field only to certain people, click Change the whole form at the bottom of the page. That opens the full form builder.
